The aim of the course is to familiarize the students with feminist research methodology at a theoretical and empirical level.

More specific objectives of the course are to:

Get to know key points of feminist criticism to positivist epistemology

Get to know the shifts in feminist methodology from second wave feminism to postmodern and queer feminism

To formulate research questions

To practice the art of feminist interviewing and feminist reflection

To experiment with (auto)biographical and oral research methods

To work individually, in pairs, as well as in small groups

The seminar requires the active participation of students in discussions, individual and group work and presentations (30%), as well as writing a final written paper and oral exam (70%).

Seminar attendance is mandatory and students who miss more than 3 classes will automatically fail the course.

The course is open to undergraduate students from the Department of Sociology and visiting Erasmus+ students.

Prerequisites for students from the Department of Sociology.

Students should have successfully completed the following courses: ΦΥΛΚ293, ΦΥΛΚ226, ΜΕΘΚ131, ΜΕΘΚ131-ΕΡΓ.
